EDINBURG — Police are searching for about eight men who opened fire
at a man parked in a car wash Thursday morning.

Edinburg police officers responded to Aztek Car Care Center in the
1900 block of East University Drive about 10:30 a.m. in reference to
a shooting, Lt. Oscar Treviño said.

Officers spoke to a man who said he was sitting in his vehicle when
two SUVs pulled up next to him, Treviño said. All of the men that
exited the SUVs were armed with handguns and shot multiple rounds at
the alleged victim.

Police did not release his identity.

Investigators recovered 10 .45-caliber casings at the scene, but none
of them managed to injure the man sitting in the vehicle, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries from glass that broke when the
bullets shattered his windows.

Officers have not made any arrests in connection with the case,
Treviño said. The only description they have of the shooters is that
they are Hispanic males with tattoos.

They might belong to a local street gang, Treviño added.

Anyone with information is urged to call Edinburg Crime Stoppers at
(956) 383-8477.

Authorities say they discovered more than $92,000 in undeclared U.S.
currency hidden in a package of baby wipes belonging to a woman who
tried to enter Mexico through Nogales.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says its officers at the Dennis
DeConcini Port of Entry selected an 18-year-old female passenger for
additional questioning while conducting an outbound inspection of a
commercial bus Thursday night.

When the officers inspected the woman's luggage, they discovered the
cash in four packages concealed among the baby wipes.

The unidentified woman was arrested and turned over to U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
