BP agents seize 385 pounds of pot

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested eight suspected drug
smugglers and seized 385 pounds of marijuana over the past two days,
worth an estimated $179,000.

On Wednesday night, agents patrolling seven miles east of San Luis,
Ariz., found footprints leading from the international border. Agents
tracked the prints, which led to a Mexican citizen who was allegedly
carrying a duffel bag containing 23 pounds of marijuana. The man was
turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland
Security Investigations.

On Thursday, agents working south of Gila Bend discovered a group of
alleged smugglers carrying a total of 335 pounds of marijuana. The
group consisted of seven Mexican citizens who crossed the border near
Lukeville, within the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. They were
turned over to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Probation officer thought to have sold bullet-proof vests on eBay

SIERRA VISTA — An adult probation officer was arrested on charges of
theft and trafficking in stolen property after he was alleged to have
taken several bullet-proof vests scheduled to be destroyed and
selling them on eBay.
The investigation by the Bisbee Police Department resulted in the
arrest of Cody Thomson, 32, a deputy adult probation officer with the
Cochise County Adult Probation Office on Wednesday morning.
