TUCSON - During a 14-day operation in the mountains west of I-10 near
Tucson, 241 people we arrested on drug-related charges.
Operation Silver Bell was focused in the Silver Bell and Sawtooth
Mountains and ended Feb. 11. It centered on identifying new smuggling
trends and disrupting transnational criminal organizations.
Nearly 4,000 pounds of marijuana, 19 vehicles, and 5 firearms were
also seized during the operation.
The operation was led by BLM with the particpation of Border Patrol,
DPS, Oro Valley Police, Marana Police, Pima County Sheriff's Office,
ICE, Gila River Police, and Eloy Police.
"Each agency brings added value to the table. Everyone has a
different skill set and by working together we get the benefit of all
of them," said Jon Young, State Chief Ranger-Arizona, Bureau of Land
Management.

The facts were reported at kilometer 57 of the riser to the Rumorosa,

Attacked by unknown reasons, two migrants remained until late Sunday
night in a rugged area near La Rumorosa, where led several rescue
teams throughout the state.
Since shortly after 15:00 hours, one of the migrants who formed the
group of people allegedly seeking to cross into the United States
between those who were both injured, reached the edge of the road,
where called for help.
The facts were reported at kilometer 57 of the riser to the Rumorosa,

Gloria, the two migrants were wounded by gun fire.
Staff of Grupo Beta, Aguiluchos Rescue Group, Federal Preventive
Police, State Preventive Police, Fire Direction Mexicali, Tijuana and
Fire Service Paramedics and Emergency Medical Transportation.
Information that were available until the night of Sunday, the rescue
would have been difficult due to the prevailing wind in the area, the
terrain, and poor visibility.
Responders agreed that for this type rescue a helicopter is
necessary due to the conditions and type of emergency, as the two men
injured must be immobilized before being taken from the place.
Ignacio Lozoya, assistant director of the Bureau of Fire, estimated
that the approximate time to complete the rescue would be about 03:00
hours on Monday.
At press time was unknown health status of the two men shot,
according to testimony from rescuers who had lit a fire where they were.

Other radio communication system apparently used by a criminal group
was located in the town of El Porvenir, in the municipality of
Praxedis G. Guerrero.

Agredidos a tiros por razones desconocidas, dos migrantes permanecían
hasta altas horas de la noche de este domingo en un una zona agreste
de la zona de La Rumorosa, a donde se dirigieron diversos cuerpos de
rescate de toda la entidad.
Desde poco después de las 15:00 horas, uno de los migrantes que
conformaban presuntamente el grupo de personas que buscaban cruzar a
Estados Unidos entre los que se encontraban los dos lesionados,
alcanzó la orilla de la carretera, desde donde pidió auxilio.
Los hechos se reportaron en el kilómetro 57 del tramo ascendente a La
Rumorosa, donde dos kilómetros al norte, en las inmediaciones del
Cañón de Las Palmeras o del Arroyo La Gloria, se encontraban los dos
migrantes heridos por proyectil de arma de fuego.
Al lugar se abocaron personal del Grupo Beta, Grupo de Rescate
Aguiluchos, Policía Federal Preventiva, Policía Estatal Preventiva,
Dirección de Bomberos de Mexicali, Bomberos de Tijuana y paramédicos
del Servicio de Transporte y Emergencias Médicas.
De la información que se contaba hasta la noche de este domingo, las
labores de rescate se habrían dificultado debido al viento
predominante en la zona, el tipo de terreno, y la poca visibilidad.
Socorristas coincidieron que para este tipo de rescates es necesario
un helicóptero debido a las condiciones y al tipo de emergencia, ya
que los dos hombres lesionados deben ser inmovilizados para luego ser
extraídos del lugar.
Ignacio Lozoya, subdirector de la Dirección de Bomberos, estimó que
la hora aproximada para culminar el rescate sería alrededor de las
03:00 horas de este lunes.
Al cierre de esta edición se desconocía el estado de salud de los dos
hombres baleados, quienes según testimonios de socorristas, habían
encendido una fogata en donde se encontraban.

Otro sistema de comunicación por radio utilizado al parecer por un
grupo criminal fue localizado en el poblado de El Porvenir, en el
municipio de Praxedis G. Guerrero.
Con este equipo se establecía enlace a una distancia de 15 kilómetros
con radios portátiles.
Entre lo asegurado se encontraron:

7 antenas de diversas características

5 tramos de cable heliax
3 tramos de cable acerado
