The drug trafficker Héctor Beltrán Leyva dies

Héctor Beltrán Leyva died at the López Mateos Medical Center in Toluca, State of Mexico, according to sources of the federal government, cited by the newspaper Milenio.

The drug kingpin suffered a heart attack in Cefereso 1 and died after being transferred to López Mateos Hospital

Beltrán Leyva, aka "El H", was the leader of the criminal group of the same name since December 2009, after the murder at the hands of the Mexican Navy of his brother Arturo Beltrán Leyva, alias "El Barbas", in an exclusive residential complex from the city of Cuernavaca, Morelos.

He was born on February 15, 1965, in Badiraguato, Sinaloa. After the death of his brother, "El H" led the Beltrán Leyva cartel along with Sergio Villarreal Barragán, alias "El Grande" and Gerardo Vázquez "El Indio".

Although years before the Beltrán Leyva worked for the Sinaloa cartel, they went on to dispute territories and accused them of treason since the capture of Alfredo Beltrán Leyva "El Mochomo".

The Mexican authorities came to offer 30 million pesos for his capture, and the United States also sought him for the crime of drug trafficking, considering him one of the top drug leaders.

The American Union gave for his apprehension a reward of 5 million dollars.

Four years ago, Héctor Beltrán Leyva managed to escape from the Mexican authorities, despite an operation by the Navy in a building in Mexico City, where he rented an apartment in the Del Valle neighborhood.

"El H" was arrested in 2014, in San Miguel Allende, Guanajuato, by the Mexican Army.
