Around 76 migrants arrived yesterday in Mexicali by train, revealed the local delegate of the National Institute of Migration (Inami), Luis Humberto Torres, according to information from the administrators of the migrant shelters.

They calculate that the caravan formed by people from Central America was divided into several groups and that 70% came to Baja California, with Tijuana as its main objective, with the intention of entering the United States.

He said they have had up to four meetings with US authorities and have not been told if they will receive the three migrant caravans, adding that it is rumored that a fourth is leaving Nicaragua.

The local delegate pointed out that the key to facing this migratory contingency is the coordination of the Government and the shelters, ensuring that they are prepared to receive the migrants, however, there is not enough space in the shelters.

"They are arriving, today 76 arrived on the train, they are staying in different hostels, some arrived with some capital and are staying in some hotels," he revealed.

He recalled that they can not be regularized (legalized) as migrants if they do not go to the National Institute of Migration (Inami), irregular foreigners in the country who voluntarily come to the dependency can not be processed.

"If the foreigner does not come before a module or government office of the level that is to request support, it will not be given, they have to go and look for it," he said.

The others in Oaxaca
The Secretary General of Government, Francisco Rueda Gómez, said that most of the migrant caravan is in the State of Oaxaca, and probably will arrive for a while to Mexico City to give a position to the federal Government.

"You can present a complex situation of coming to Tijuana and Mexicali, because the 14 hostels in Mexicali have a capacity of 500 spaces and in Tijuana they are filled, there are only 150 spaces reserved for children and women," he said.

Discards Military
In Mexicali no reinforcement of the North American Army has been projected for the port between Calexico and Mexicali, informed the mayor Gustavo Sánchez Vásquez.

The information to the court on Wednesday is positive the flow of elements of the Army sent by instruction of President Donald Trump of the United States.

But the elements are contemplated for Tijuana and Ciudad Juarez, he said.

The caravan of migrants that Hondurans and Salvadorans are in transit, is the closest in Oaxaca and is a flow of 1,400 people.

In addition a second group that is crossing the Suchiate River, but it is preliminary information, said the mayor.

Gustavo Magallanes Cortés, director of Protection to the Migrant informed that the figure reaches the 2 thousand migrants towards the North border of the Country.
