United States. - The Department of National Security of the United States (DHS, for its acronym in English)
has compiled reports of undercover informants within the caravan of migrants from Central America
with intentions to enter US territory, reported exclusively by NBC News

The report signed by reporter Julia Ainsley also points out that the US authorities have been in charge of monitoring migrants' text messages,
according to two DHS officials interviewed by the journalist.

According to the statements, the gathering of information was carried out with the inclusion of personnel from the unit in the conversations
of the WhatsApp platform that are used by the more than 4,000 migrants
originating mainly from Honduras to organize and communicate.

In addition, the report indicates that the information collection techniques are complemented by the reports
of DHS personnel working in Mexico with the Government in an effort to control the flow of the caravan,
its movements and any possible security threat that may be discovered.

On Monday, US officials reported the intentions of a group of migrants to run across the lanes of a border crossing near San Diego.

As a result of the foregoing, the Customs and Border Protection agency closed all the entry lanes to the United States
from the San Ysidro port for reinforcement, without the announced attempt being registered.

The NBC reporter points out that paying informants, placing officers in the region or monitoring communications from non-US citizens is not illegal,
according to statements by John Cohen, former deputy secretary of acting intelligence at DHS. ,
who pointed out that the situation does generate some concerns about the allocation of resources.

"Those resources must come from somewhere, they are not dedicated to only thwarting terrorist threats, mass shootings,
fentanyl sent by post to the country or cyber attacks," the former official told the journalist.
