70.7% of citizens consider it appropriate to use the Army to combat organized crime, reveals the National Survey on the Perception of Citizen Insecurity in Mexico,
presented annually by the United Mexican Organization Against Crime (MUCD).

According to the statistical exercise, the five regions of the Country, beginning with the Center,
declared themselves in favor of the use of the armed forces in tasks of public security.

In the Central zone, integrated by the State of Mexico, Morelos, Puebla, Tlaxcala and Mexico City,
73.2% of the thousand people surveyed nationally at home, expressed their acceptance.

In second place is the Northeast zone, composed of Tamaulipas, Nuevo León and Veracruz, where 70.3% mentioned that it is correct.
It is followed by the Western region with an Army and Navy acceptance of 69.8%; Southeast, 69.3%; and Northwest, 68.3%.

The director of MUCD, Lisa Sanchez, said that they are not opposed to the existence of the military,
but to the overuse of the armed forces,
which causes the acting authorities to abandon their responsibility to create sufficient, effective, sufficient and responsible bodies to take on public safety tasks.

"We are seeing that the citizens, faced with the possibility that they are or not, prefer that the Army remain in the streets," he said.
