Puerto Penasco, Sonora (Agencies) The Ministry of National Defense
(SEDENA) reported that its staff secured a shipment of 5, 210
kilograms of marijuana in the town of Puerto Peñasco.

In a statement, the 45th Military Zone said that it was done in the
security checkpoint located on the coastal road of the city.

He explained that at the site was stopped a tractor trailer carrying
aluminum foil, but a in an inspection was located the drugs.

In total were secured 3,934 packages wrapped with tape containing
five thousand, 210 kilos 480 grams of marijuana, he said.

By this fact stopped the driver of the vehicle, who was made
available to the relevant authorities, along with the drugs and vehicle.

In the report, the 45th Military Zone issued an invitation to the
general public, to continue anonymously denouncing all kinds of
related illicit organized crime and drug trafficking.

The Government of the Republic pointed out that there was a decrease
in the number of homicides in accordance with safety indicators for
the period from 1 to 31 January 2013.
"With respect to intentional homicides linked to organized crime, was
a decrease of 35 cases, from 1,139 last December to 1,104 in
January. Of these, 1,068 thousand are suspected criminals killed, 30
public servants killed in the line of duty and six people presumably
unrelated "said the Ministry of the Interior (Interior Ministry)

clashes and attacks linked to organized crime in January 2013, 150

Shooting in Piedras Negras

Piedras Negras, Coah., Mexico - A group of armed men attacked this
afternoon in Piedras Negras in an armored van carrying police and
bodyguards of Public Safety Secretary of Coahuila, Gerardo Villarreal
Rios.

The assault occurred about 16:00 pm when the police vehicle traveling
in the Mundo Nuevo colony.

The police officers repelled the attack and the criminals fled, so
began a chase. In the clash also took part members of the Navy, the
Army, GATES and federal agents.

Authorities activated the Code Red, reporting that agents of the
Ministry of Public Security who were in the street Xicoténcatl among
Talamantes and Libertad, were being attacked by armed civilians.

The van of the escorts received multiple bullet wounds of high
caliber. However, thanks to the vehicle armor, passengers were unharmed.

Several vehicles, a house and a workshop were damaged during the
shooting.

The attorney did not travel in the armored vehicle when the attack
occurred because at that time he held a meeting with the governor of
Coahuila, Homero Ramos Gloria.

The Attorney General has already started investigations into these
events.

This Friday in Morelos, three bodyguards of the Morelos Attorney
General were murdered by Policia Acreditable (Police Creditable -
vetted?) , in an attack on the state official.
