Matías Romero, Oax. On Sunday morning, some 400 Central American members of the Viacrucis del Migrante were mounted on the railroad train known as La Bestia in the municipality of Matías Romero to Medias Aguas, Veracruz, while about 700 more women and children remain in public spaces waiting for a truck to take them on the road to meet the rest of the migrants.

This Viacrucis del Migrante entered Isthmian territory on Wednesday in the town of Tapanatepec, then went to Niltepec, Ciudad Ixtepec and finally on Saturday night arrived at the municipality of Matías Romero and were located in the facilities of the railroad field where the municipal authority gave them food and blankets.

Migrants totaling more than a thousand people, from Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador, are fleeing from the violence, of their human rights and lack of employment, and aim to make the migratory situation visible at the national level. You live in your countries.

The coordinator of this Viacrucis del Migrante, Irineo Mújica reiterated that what they seek is to raise awareness and make visible the violence that migrants live in their countries and that all they seek is for their rights to be respected as any citizen.

He said that the route traveled by this caravan is the one used daily by hundreds of migrants, including minors, women and children, and that during their passage through Mexico it has been proven that they face violence, discrimination and even some have died.

"What we want is to make Mexicans aware that migrants do not leave for their country's sake, but fleeing from violence, we see in the streets of Honduras how the army has taken the reins, You can not live in peace when there is violence , the objective is that the migrants know their rights, we will go to a workshop in the city of Puebla and then we will direct our course to Sonora where we will have a meeting with migrants from there, "he said.

The caravan is assisted by the Beta group of the INM and regional civil protection, however the migrants pointed out that it is important the medical assistance and also the help of their basic needs such as bathing and using toilets that could not be attended with total success.

On the second day of the Viacrucis Migrante caravan in the Istmeño territory, about 250 Central Americans arrived in Ciudad Ixtepec on Friday night and were placed in the municipal auditorium, while some 800 more people stayed overnight in the central park of the municipality of Santiago Niltepec.

The activist Irineo Mújica called on the authorities of the three levels of government to provide greater security to the members of the caravan, because during their journey they have received death threats for demanding respect for their rights and a halt to violence .

Between the heat and the wind that began to blow in the region, the members of the Viacrucis Migrante left Tapanatepec very early on Friday and advanced on foot for several hours to Santiago Niltepec, and many others received support with vehicles to reach City Ixtepec.

In the caravan, coordinated by human rights defender Irineo Mújica, migrants - mostly from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua - participate - women, men and minors, as well as members of the gay lesbian community.

We ask for greater security, our goal is to get to Puebla first, where we will have educational orientation workshops, then we will travel to the north of the country to Caborca, Sonora, where we will take action to demand a halt to the violation of the human rights of migrants, said Mújica.

In addition to the civil protection authorities and health services of Oaxaca, members of the Beta group of the National Institute of Migration accompany the migrants.

In the municipality of Tapanatepec, they were supported with food and provisions from people in solidarity with the locality, as well as Civil Protection authorities of the state and the Oaxacan Migrant Institute.
