Bust in Goodyear nets large amount of drugs, stolen MCSO weapon

GOODYEAR, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

Goodyear police say a man has been arrested after authorities recovered a large amount of drugs, cash, and a stolen Maricopa County Sheriff's Office weapon.

According to Goodyear police, officers pulled over 23-year-old Diego Diaz Gamez of Glendale during a traffic stop on August 9.

Police says the suspect, 23-year-old Diego Diaz Gamez, did not have a driver's license. and the back seat passenger was in possession of two grams of marijuana.

During a search of the vehicle, additional drugs and cash were discovered which included:

White heroin: 9.9 lbs
Black heroin: 7.4 lbs
Cocaine: 1.86 lbs
Methamphetamine: 1.56 lbs
2500 fentanyl pills/M30
Marijuana: 2 grams
Cash $44,312.00

The Goodyear Police NET (Neighborhood Enforcement Team) later served a search warrant at the suspect's residence in Glendale.

There, the following additional items were discovered:

Stolen MCSO deputy's Vest
Stolen MCSO deputy's AR-15
Shotgun
Military-style flak vest
Methamphetamine (additional)
Cocaine (additional)
The total street value of seized drugs was $304,518.

Gamez, a resident of Glendale, was booked into the Fourth Ave. jail with a $100,000 cash bond.

He faces multiple charges, including:

Transport Narcotic Drugs (x3)
Sale of Dangerous Drugs
Transport of Dangerous Drugs
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Conspiracy
Money Laundering
Use of Electronic Communication in Drug Transaction
Assist Criminal Syndicate
Possession of Stolen Property (MCSO Deputy's Vest and AR-15 which were stolen from vehicle)
Misconduct Involving Weapons (Non- Citizen in Possession, Drugs and Guns Combined)
