Arrest of almost 3,000 people in security strategy

MEXICO CITY.
At 16 months the implementation of the second phase of the Security Strategy Tamaulipas, nearly three thousand suspects have been arrested by federal and state forces for various offenses.
Tamaulipas Coordination Group (GCT) said that the 13 May 2014 to 10 last September have started 8,020 preliminary investigations of federal warrant for crimes ranging from rape to the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives, to the theft of oil.
He said that in that period have been arrested 2,976 suspects and seized 4,709 firearms, of which 3,948 are long guns and 761 handguns.
We have also confiscated 54,877 magazines, 1,384,605 cartridges of different calibers, 776 grenades, 23 rockets, 125 grenade launchers, 4,592 land vehicles and 1,214 slot machines. (?)
He added that they have also secured 218 tons 824,803 kilos of marijuana, 282 kilos of cocaine and 6,103,307 liters of hydrocarbons stolen in several municipalities of this state.
The comanders of federal and state forces that make up the Coordination Group Tamaulipas reported that the fight against crime and insecurity is strengthened increasingly, allowing better results in safety.
