09/01/13 - 0000~2400hrs - 8 Groups, 29 Bodies - Opening day of Dove Season, Tracking IAs near I-10/Bowie
4 minutes of condensed audio (click on link below) Note change to MP3 audio format
http://www.secureborderintel.org/BorderBlotter/BorderAudio090113.mp3
Groups of: 1,1,9,2,2,8,2,4,2
(P= "46" Drug Packers, A= Armed individuals, ULA= UltraLight, LV= Load Vehicle, B=Bailout, UDA=Illegal Alien)
Significant Events in Audio:
-- There were MANY groups being worked during this 24 hour period where the size of the group could not be determined.
-- Note: Audio clips are comprised of USBP radio traffic broadcast "in-the-clear" (un-encrypted)
from the busy Tucson Sector .
It is estimated that un-encrypted radio traffic comprises less than 30% of the total activity for any given time period.
-- Note: excessive temperatures in the desert continue to result in multiple 911 distress calls from Illegal aliens
suffering from dehydration. The Border Patrol stated priority mission in the summer time is Search & Rescue,
-- Note: Continued monsoon storm conditions limit tracking/detection efforts - Limited activity/participation by DHS "High-Flyer"
-- 1300 - Agent announces FYI - Bow hunting season is effect and today is the first day of dove season.
Note: Vigilant hunters regularly report groups of IAs/Drug smugglers to BP during hunting season from
remote game areas. Detection/enforcement during hunting season is hampered as many game areas
coincide with smuggling areas, where BP agents have to sort out sensor hits and camoflauged/armed
individuals... whether it be hunters or smugglers. Hunting season has always been "good cover" for
smuggling operations in border areas.
-- 1900 - BP agents tracking a group of IAs near Interstate 10, east of Bowie Arizona (a known "loadup" area)... some
60 miles north of the US/Mexico border
