TUCSON (AP) — Border Patrol agents say seven Arizona residents were arrested in a 24-hour period in separate drug-smuggling incidents.
Agents in the Nogales area said Wednesday the arrests occurred over the Labor Day weekend at an immigration checkpoint on Interstate 19.
They say the first incident happened Saturday during an inspection of a commercial shuttle van.
They say a person from Nogales and two people from Tucson tried to hide 12.2 ounces (346 grams) of methamphetamine under their clothing.
The next day, two passengers on separate shuttle vans, including a 17-year-old from Tucson, were found with drugs.
Agents say the teen was arrested for smuggling cocaine. The other, a Phoenix resident, had four bags of fentanyl pills.
Later in the day, two Tucson residents were found with a brick of heroin.

Two people of the male sex without life, victims of several shots, was the result of a pursuit between several cars, in one of which the today fined people traveled; it is believed that the aggressors fled the Magdalena-Nogales Highway.
Around 03:00 yesterday, the authorities were informed that a vehicle was being chased by a group of gunmen and gunshots were heard.
Shortly after, the agents located on the bed of the Magdalena River a Chevrolet Yukon, in a state of abandonment.
Inside the vehicle was the body of one of the two people who were traveling at the time of the armed aggression
and the companion was lying on the ground, authorities reported.
It should be noted that after being attacked with firearms, the Chevrolet brand unit stopped the pursuit by crashing into the riverbed, they reported.
Before the impact, one of the bodies was expelled on the ground, specified in the police report.
The two individuals were identified as Paul Alejandro and Pavel Arturo, who died from the injuries, the agents added in a police report.
It was reported that the events were recorded at the end of Paseo Guadalajara Street and Ferrocarril,, of the aforementioned city.
The bodies, like the Yukon, black color and 2001 model, were removed from the scene to be under the responsibility of the corresponding authorities.
