As it is impossible for an individual to carry this amount of water, groups traversing the desert in the summer months depend upon being re-supplied along the way... typically by U.S. Citizens working for the cartels planting "water caches" and "humanitarian" groups such as "No More Deaths" and the "Samaritans" planting water caches. (... what's the difference ?)
