The largest influx of Mexicans into the United States was in the best
economic period of the latter, between 1990 AND 2000.

Washington • United States attracts a year to some 260 thousand
immigrants Mexicans, legal and illegal, workers or dependents, a flow
that has remained almost unchanged since a decade ago, according an
expert report divulged this Friday.

The figure corresponds to the period 2011-2017, and a slight decrease
compared to 280,000 Mexican immigrants text calculated for the period
2000-2007.

The report's authors, Daniel Chiquiar and Alejandrina Salcedo,
experts Economic Research Department of the Central Bank of Mexico,
these flows were calculated from labor demand by sector of the U.S.
economy.

The largest influx of Mexicans into the United States was in the best
economic period of the latter, between 1990 and 2000, which also
coincided with the Great Depression and the collapse of the Mexican
peso in 1994-94.

In that decade, some 466,000 Mexicans crossed the border each year to
try to settle in the northern neighbor.

In the United States live about 12 million Mexicans, by far the
largest minority among Hispanics, which in turn represent 52 million
people.

Each year border authorities catch an average of 350,000 to 365,000
illegal immigrants, and every year, among those deported, Mexicans
are also most.

Among legal immigrants, Mexicans are also obtaining U.S. citizenship
in greater numbers, 102 000 in 2012.

"Although there remains a high degree of uncertainty about the size
of flows (migration) in the short term, the main conclusion of our
analysis is that net migration flows from Mexico are expected to
increase compared to the last global crisis," explained the authors
of the text, published by the American Institute of Migration Policy.

Other studies highlight that United States is deporting at present
more Mexicans without papers than of those crossing.

Detect the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States, who
already reside some 11.5 million illegal immigrants, is one of the
keys of a possible immigration reform in the U.S. Congress, currently
under negotiation between employers, unions and lawmakers.

mexicanos, legales e ilegales, trabajadores o dependientes, un flujo
que se ha mantenido casi sin cambios desde hace una década, según un
informe de expertos divulgado este viernes.

La cifra corresponde al periodo 2011-2017, y supone un ligero
descenso frente a los 280 mil inmigrantes mexicanos que el texto
calcula para el periodo 2000 a 2007.

Los autores del informe, Daniel Chiquiar y Alejandrina Salcedo,
expertos de la sección de investigación económica del Banco Central
mexicano, calculan esos flujos a partir de la demanda laboral por
sectores de la economía estadunidense.

La gran afluencia de mexicanos hacia Estados Unidos se registró en el
mejor periodo económico de este último país, entre 1990 y 2000, que
además coincidió con la gran crisis y el derrumbe del peso de 1994-94.

En esa década unos 466 mil mexicanos cruzaban la frontera al año para
intentar establecerse en el vecino del norte.

En Estados Unidos viven unos 12 millones de mexicanos, de lejos la
minoría más importante entre los hispanos, que representan a su vez
52 millones de habitantes.

Cada año las autoridades fronterizas atrapan a una media de 350 mil a
365 mil indocumentados, y cada año, entre los deportados, los
mexicanos son también mayoría.

Entre los inmigrantes legales, los mexicanos son también los que
obtienen la nacionalidad estadunidense en mayor número, 102 mil en 2012.

"Aunque subsiste un alto grado de incertidumbre sobre el tamaño de
los flujos (migratorios) a corto plazo, la principal conclusión de
nuestro análisis es que los flujos netos migratorios desde México
previsiblemente van a aumentar, en comparación con la última crisis
global", explican los autores del texto, publicado por el
estadunidense Instituto de Política Migratoria.

Otros estudios resaltan que Estados Unidos está deportando en la
actualidad a más mexicanos sin papeles de los que cruzan.

Detectar los flujos de inmigrantes ilegales a Estados Unidos, donde
ya residen unos 11,5 millones de indocumentados, es una de las claves
de una posible reforma migratoria en el Congreso estadunidense,
actualmente bajo negociación entre empresarios, sindicatos y
legisladores.
