In less than 20 hours after the murder there have been 25 murders in Juarez
Yesterday, the second in command of Los Aztecas, Juan Arturo Padilla Juarez, aka 'El Genio', was stabbed to death in a prison fight between los Aztecas and La Linea in the Aquiles Serdan prison in Chihuahua, Chih. Allegedly, 'El Genio' was trying to take control of the prison and inmates from both gangs started a brawl. La Linea inmates invaded the Azteca area in jail to murder El Genio, who was shanked. He had not been in prison a month before he was killed. He was arrested for, among other crimes, the murder of two ministeriales. He was also accused by the U.S. for the murder of the consular employees.
Less than 20 hours later, there have been 25 murders in Juarez. The cops believe that these are revenge killings for El Genio's death. Among the murders was the massacre of 11 people in a house in Juarez located near the Cereso at 1205 Oasis de Egipto Street. Among the dead are three women who, according to police investigators, were tortured, raped and strangled. All of the victims were strangled; none were shot or stabbed. POlice believe they were lured to the house-- a security house, not a regular house-- and they were overcome, tortured and strangled. Police believe that the sicarios were after two of the victims, and simply killed the other people who happened to be there.
Some facts pertinent to understanding who El Genio was:
He was considered the second in command of the Los Aztecas "old School' gang.
In conjunction with 'El Tablas', he left the Cartel de Juarez because he refused to accept a new leader imposed by 'LA Linea'.
He was included on the FBI's '100 Most Wanted' list.
There was a reward of $100,000 offered for his capture.
The U.S. accused him of the murder of a consular employee, her husband and another U.S. citizen,
He was arrested in Uruapan on June 25, 2018.
He was imprisoned in Aquiles Serdan prison on July 3.
He was charged with murdering two ministeriales
He was placed in preventive detention for four murders and was a suspect in another 24.
He was killed yesterday with a home-made shank during a fight in the prison.

The 11 people found dead on Friday in a safe house in Ciudad Juarez
According to the report of the Chihuahua Public Prosecutor's Office , an armed commando arrived at the address located on Calle Oasis de Egipto in colonia Praderas del Oasis, Ciudad Juarez and executed eleven people who were inside.
"The perpetrators strangled them, there was no use of firearms," State Attorney General Cesar Augusto Peniche told REFORMA. All 11 were bound and had been tortured. The three women were found without underwear.
"This could be in the context of the conflict between La Línea and Los Aztecas," Peniche added.
The killings occurred a day after the murder of Aztecas leader, Juan Arturo Padilla Juarez aka "El Genio" was reported. Genio was killed in prison by members of La Linea. The prison fight between Los Aztecas and La Linea lasted for 5 minutes.
"The proceedings of the State Investigation Agency are focused at this moment on determining the causes of the aggression, the identity of those who died in the place and establishing if they belong to a criminal cell."
The city is in on alert for possible additional attacks, said the mayor.
In the month of July Juárez closed with 777 murders.
