Arrest 2 foreigners with firearms

Staff of the Sedena and elements of the PESP, carried out the arrest in Sonoyta

Officials of the State Public Security Police (PESP) and elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) arrested two people of North American (US) nationality in possession of handguns.

The events were recorded at the facilities of the entrance port of Lukeville and Sonoyta, at the control and surveillance checkpoint, where personnel from Sedena and PESP
detected two people, one male and one female with two pistols, that traveled in a 2016 RAM pick up, with Arizona license plates and a travel trailer.

The occupants of the vehicle were interviewed, asking their origin and destination, to which the driver of the vehicle showed some nervousness, stammering and evasion,
in addition to contradicting himself in some answers; the elements of SEDENA asked to make a inspection, to which the subject who identified himself as Jacob 'N' of 44 years agreed to get off the vehicle,
like his companion Christine 'N' of 40 years.

The officers did not find any object constituting a crime in the vehicle, so they proceeded to inspect the interior of the travel trailer that was attached to the pickup;
in the place was found in a compartment a 9mm pistol with its magazine and another .45 caliber firearm with magazine with 8 cartridges.

Therefore, the persons were informed of the reason for which they would be detained, their rights were read and they were placed at the disposal of the competent authority
together with the vehicle and weapons, for the corresponding procedures.

NOTE: They are presumed innocent until their responsibility is declared by the judicial authority (Article 13 of the CNPP)
