MEXICO (AP) ._ A federal official confirmed to AP that the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was arrested in an operation in Los Mochis, after clashes.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, reported on his Twitter account that Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was recaptured, seven months after the drug lord escaped from a maximum security prison last July.
"Mission accomplished. I have I want to inform Mexicans that Joaquin Guzman Loera has been arrested," said Peña Nieto.
Guzman was located after a confrontation of suspects and the Marina in the city of Los Mochis, confirmed a federal official who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to give statements.
Hours before the Mexican president gave the news via twitter, the Navy had reported that operating but only said that five suspects had been killed in an operation which was also wounded a Marine.
In a statement, he said the incident occurred when the armed forces responded to a citizen complaint, went to a house in Los Mochis where they were attacked with firearms from inside.
To repel the attack, five attackers were killed and six others were arrested. Besides four vehicles they were seized eight rifles, a handgun, ammunition and a rocket launcher.

The Navy said through a statement that early today, during a raid on a home in the city of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, personal Marines was attacked with shots of firearms by alleged members of the organized crime.
The statement said the incident occurred when naval personnel received a citizen complaint which stated that a home armed people were, so in response to this, elements of the Navy of Mexico attended cited home, where they were attacked with gunfire gun from inside, so that elements of this institution proceeded to repel aggression in self-defense with the sole purpose of protecting the life of the elements involved in such action.
Unfortunately, this operation was injured an element of the Navy of Mexico who is already out of danger. Moreover, five assailants were killed and six people were arrested.
Notably knowledge that in that place was Gastelum Orso Ivan Cruz, alleged leader of northern Sinaloa of a criminal organization operating in the area, the same who managed to flee were reported.
Result of this action the following was:
4 vehicles (two armored).
Eight rifles, one handgun, and ammunition loaders for their ballistic characteristics are for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces.
1 Tube rocket launchers with two charges.
Both arrested as the seized materials are being made available to the relevant authorities.
With these actions the Navy - Navy of Mexico ratifies the commitment of the Mexican families to maintain security in the country, in this sense it is important to mention that the naval elements develop their operations in compliance with procedures set out in the Manual Use of Force, Common Application to the three armed forces and strict respect for human rights.
