TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A suspect in the 2010 killing of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, whose death exposed a botched federal gun-smuggling operation, has pleaded not guilty.
Ivan Soto-Barraza, 34, was arraigned Friday in U.S. District Court in Tucson after being extradited from Mexico on Thursday.
He was captured last September and has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, attempted interference with commerce by robbery, use and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer.
Soto-Barraza is among five men accused in the shooting death of Terry in southern Arizona.
The case exposed the Fast and Furious operation in which federal agents trying to track guns allowed criminals to buy them, losing track of many.
